| Abstract: Sound and rhyme are accompanied with sense, and sometimes are complementary to the meaning of the utterance proper. Matching sound with sense, in the actual practice of translating, is an important means to reach equivalence. And there exists the limitation of translatability in transliteration owing to the differences between Chinese sounds and English ones in, among others, structure, function and ways of expression. |
