“跃出诗外”的辉煌
———《四个四重奏》的音乐学阐释

摘  要: 《四个四重奏》是一部诗与乐完美结合的现代主义经典作品,艾略特的创作理念中早已预设了“四重奏”这一音乐学概念。艾略特这部作品的主题意义,是借助复调、对位、和声、变奏等音乐技法来建构的。只有首先从音乐性主题结构和相关音乐技法切入,才能完整地理解这部作品的审美价值。

Creation of beauty“beyond poetry”: a musicological reading ofFour Quartets

Abstract: T. S. Eliot s Four Quartets is known as a Modernist classic with a perfect combination of poetry and music. Eliot has presupposed the musicological concept of“four quartets”in his idea of composition. The present paper holds that the thematic signification ofFour Quartetsis realized by way of such music techniques as polyphony, counterpoint, harmony and variation. Therefore, only a careful and subtle investigation, first and foremost, both of this work s musical thematic structure and its use of music devices can successfully achieve a thorough understanding of its aesthetic value.
