论《魔幻玩具铺》中的自我身份认同

摘  要: 《魔幻玩具铺》是英国当代作家安吉拉•卡特早年以思考身份认同为核心的作品。小说主人公梅拉尼用镜像与易装术作为身份建构的策略,但对这两种策略的认知偏差导致她陷入身份断裂与缺失的困境。从文化身份的角度,指出无论镜像还是易装术,都建立在庞大的文化话语系统中,梅拉尼的自我身份认同并非先验主体的产物,而是不同符码、话语体系、象征系统以及日常习俗构成的文化模式共同塑造起来的,是交往过程中不同文化话语协商建构的结果。

Mirror, masquerade and cultural negotiation: self-identity of The Magic Toyshop

Abstract: The Magic Toyshop is a novel of Angela Carter’s early creations which focused on self-identity. Its heroine Melanie considers mirror and masquerade as the strategies for identity construction, but her cognitive deviation of the two strategies lead her to the plight of breakage and loss of identity. The essay, taking the perspective of cultural identity, puts forward that both mirror and masquerade are built on the enormous cultural discourse system. Melanie’s identity is not the product of transcendental subject. Fashioned instead by the cultural model composed of different symbols, discourse system, symbol system and routine customs, Melanie’s self-identity is the product of the negotiation of different cultures in interaction.
