论明清小说插图的“从属性”与“独立性” |

| 摘 要： 王朝闻认为明清小说插图具有“应有的从属性”与“相对独立性”两种性质：一方面，插图依附于文本，表达特定文本中的特定故事；另一方面，插图可以在不依靠文字的情况下，从插图形象本身来表现故事情节。但从实际情况来看，一方面，插图存在着一种去“从属性”的性质；另一方面，由于图像自身的缺陷，脱离文本表达主题的目标难以实现。身处文学、历史传统中，脱离文本来理解插图的纯粹行为是根本不存在的。因而，所谓“独立性”实则是不存在的。 |

On the Subordination and Independence of the illustrations in the novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties |

| Abstract: Wang Chaowen pointed out that the illustrations in the Novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties have two natures. One is subordination, which means the illustrations belonged to the novels；the other one is independence, which means the illustrations can describe the stories without the texts. However, on the one hand, with the development of the illustrative art, the subordination is going to be died out; on the other hand, because of the defects of the pictures, the independence is hardly to achieve. Meanwhile, we should understand the illustrations under the traditions of the literature and history, which makes the independence non-existent. |
