| Abstract: This paper tends to explore the ellipsis and abstract phenomenon in the translation of “Rulinwaishi” by Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang. Introducing many examples from the Chinese-English version of “The Scholars”, Library of Chinese Classics, it makes an attempt to sort and find out the reasons of ellipsis and abstract and their influence on faithfulness of translation, cultural communication and the reception of readers. |
