| Abstract: The spectacle fetishism generated in the historical context of capitalism has become a new form of commodity fetishism. Spectacle fetishism dissolves human subjectivity and criticality, and further leads to the secrecy of ideological control. Spectacle fetishism has a series of value paradoxes, such as abundance and scarcity, equality and privilege, freedom and control, individuality and self-loss, which highlight the inner nature of “object” dominating “the human”. Based on the comprehensive invasion of spectacle fetishism into the living world, Debord advocated that the “criticism of daily life” should be promoted to the “revolution of daily life”, so as to break the habits of daily life to stimulate the consciousness of individuals to change their lives, so as to complete the transcendence of spectacle fetishism. However, his emancipatory strategy of “revolution of daily life” has always been in an embarrassing situation of self-contradiction. In view of this, the criticism and transcendence of spectacle fetishism cannot stop at cultural judgment or phenomenon reflection, but must return to the context of modern life, deeply reveal the generative logic and value essence of spectacle fetishism, and re-establish the value subject status of “human”. |
