跨文化视野中的妙善故事

摘  要: 在我国众多的观音本生故事中,影响最为深远的是妙善公主修炼成道的故事。妙善故事虽然是中国文化的一个创造,但是又具有鲜明的外来文化特征,可以从佛经中找到创造的原料。妙善故事中塑造的有着中国文化特色的妙善形象,把在佛典中超越时空的观音菩萨,变成一个生长在中国,有名有姓,有生长历史的神化人物。印度佛教文化中的观音形象,在传入中国的过程中成功地和中国文化相融合,完成了其中国化的过程。

Miaoshan story in cross cultural perspective

Abstract: Among the numerous stories about Guanyin's original birth in China, the one with the most far-reaching influence is the story of Princess Miaoshan with her cultivation of Tao. Miaoshan story, although a creation in Chinese culture, also has distinct foreign cultural characteristics, with its raw materials found in Buddhist scriptures. The Miaoshan image characterized in Miaoshan stories with Chinese cultural characteristics, transforms the Guanyin Bodhisattva which transcends time and space in the Buddhist scriptures, into a deified figure born and growing up in China with a name, a surname and a growth history. In this way, the image of Avalokitesvara in Indian Buddhist culture, in its introduction to China,  was successfully integrated with Chinese culture, thus completing the process of its Sinicization.
