| 摘 要： 张东荪是一位笃信民主主义并对民主主义有过深刻研究的思想家。他认为民主并不仅仅是一种政治制度,而是一种“文化之全体”,是一种文明形态;自由、平等、理性、人权等概念构成民主主义的基本内容,民主主义与社会主义本质上是同一回事;民主主义正为现代中国所必需,“士”便是实现这种新文明的主要托命者,传统文化中也隐含着迎接这种新文明的若干接轨点。张东荪宣传的虽然本质上仍是资产阶级民主理论,但他的许多大胆创新和独立思考精神为今天的民主建设提供了借鉴与启迪。 |

Comment on Zhang Dongsun’s democratic thought |

| Abstract: Zhang Dongsun was a faithful democratic thinkerwho had researched democratic theorywidely and deeply. He believed that democracywas not only a kind of politic system, but also an“entity of civilization”. He maintained that freedom, equality, rationality, human rightswere the basic contentof democracy, and that democracy and socialismwere the same thing. He also emphasized that democracywas in need in modern China, that“intellectuals”were the persons who realized the new civilization, and that the traditional culture implied some mediumwhichwelcomed the newcivilization. Zhang Dongsun offered reference and inspiration to today’s democratic building thought his views essentially belonged to bourgeois democracy. |
